The MCMP is currently live for Healthcare Professionals only; registered pharmacies will be contacted directly when the MCMP launches for patients.
The MCMP enables Network Pharmacies to dispense Medicinal Cannabis simply and securely, by ensuring that all regulatory requirements are fulfilled and recorded via an efficient IT enabled process.
All products listed in the MCMP will be accessible through approved wholesalers, ensuring prompt delivery of Medicinal Cannabis products to your patients.
Frequently Asked Questions:
Registering to the MCMP is quick and straightforward. Simply click on the Pharmacy MCMP Login button on the main navigation and follow the registration prompts. Alternatively, click here.
You will need to provide some basic information about your pharmacy, including banking details, wholesaler information and the name and AHPRA number of the pharmacist who will be acting as the main contact.
In order to qualify for participation in the MCMP, it is important that you understand that you must comply with all terms and conditions. Please read these carefully; if you have any questions you can contact the MCMP Administration team who will be happy to talk you through the requirements.
A key component of the MCMP is that there is a maximum price that can be charged to patients for each Medicinal Cannabis product. This price list is accessible via the MCMP. Network pharmacies must comply with this requirement; their details will be listed on a public locator, which is accessible by prescribers and patients.
Failure to comply with these terms and conditions may result in removal from the MCMP.

The MCMP has been designed to help streamline and simplify a complicated and unfamiliar process for pharmacies, prescribers and patients:
For pharmacies who register to the MCMP, we provide support to ensure you comply with all regulatory requirements, as well as enabling direct access to approved suppliers of Medicinal Cannabis products.
We also provide support to doctors who wish to prescribe Medicinal Cannabis to their patients, and the MCMP allows an open dialogue between doctors and pharmacists. This ensures continuity of care for the patient, and valuable assistance in managing their medication.
The requirements for the prescription and dispense of Medicinal Cannabis products vary between each state/territory
There may be some prerequisites before a prescription can be dispensed. Some approvals from state regulatory authorities may take some weeks for finalisation and we encourage you to complete those steps promptly
When you are presented with a script you must ensure that all appropriate approvals are in place before placing an order with the approved wholesaler.
Please note: While PharmaPrograms makes every effort to ensure the MCMP is up to date we also recommend that you familiarise yourself with the requirements applicable to your state/territory.
When a doctor prescribes Medicinal Cannabis, they will select an appropriate Network Pharmacy to dispense the prescription to the patient, and also provide them with a Patient Leaflet document, which will contain their Unique Patient ID.
When the patient presents the script and relevant approvals at your pharmacy, the pharmacist will check all regulatory requirements are in place and will then ask the patient to pay for the medication. Once payment is made the order will be placed and the pharmacist will inform the patient of the expected arrival date of the medicine.
When the medication arrives at the pharmacy, the patient should be contacted via the telephone/email they provided when they were registered in the MCMP.
When they collect the medicine the pharmacist will explain key Quality Use of Medicine (QUM) messages to the patient, and print a copy for reference. A printed copy of this Patient Information Leaflet (QUM) should be given to the patient along with the medication.
