What requirements do I need to comply with when prescribing Medicinal Cannabis?2019-07-01T10:53:43+00:00

In order to prescribe Medicinal Cannabis, prescribers must ensure that they have approval from both the TGA and their State Health Authority.

TGA Approval may be obtained either through Approved Clinical Trials, the Authorised Prescriber Scheme, or the Special Access Scheme. The MCMP facilitates supply of Medicinal Cannabis through the Authorised Prescriber Scheme and the Special Access Scheme – Category B.

State Approvals may vary depending on a variety of factors, e.g whether the medication is schedule 4 or schedule 8, or if the applicant is a specialist or a General Practitioner.

The MCMP considers these requirements and only generates the paperwork relevant for your application.

It is therefore important to ensure that you keep your information up-to-date. To change any of your details please contact the MCMP Administration Team.
